Simply having equal or approximately equal parenting time does not necessarily mean that you will not have to pay child support to the other parent. The Missouri statute that governs child support is RSMo Section 452.340 which sets out several factors that the court must take into consideration in the award of child support, including not just the amount of time the child spends with each parent, but also includes the financial needs and resources of each parent, the standard of living the child enjoyed during the marriage, the child’s physical, emotional, and educational needs, and work-related expenses needed by each party.
